This is the iconic Pale Blue Dot photograph, taken by Voyager 1 spacecraft while it was leaving the solar system. In this image, the earth appears as a tiny speck of dust — suspended in a beam of sunlight, revealing the sheer vulnerability of it against the vast space arount it. Whenever I need to feel grounded, I return to this image. It reminds me how small we are in this universe, that it does not revolve around us, and that we are all living together on this one tiny dot. It is the most humbling and unifying perspective I know.
